farmरस was born in Basudevpur Chaputa, Vaishali, Bihar, with a simple question: can a small piece of land create more food, more livelihoods and more value without losing its connection with nature?

Our answer is an integrated farm ecosystem that brings together fruit crops, banana, beekeeping, responsibly managed poultry and pollinator-friendly plants. The first farm is our learning ground. The larger ambition is to work with farmers, rural women, beekeepers and local entrepreneurs to create food that is grown thoughtfully, handled responsibly and connected clearly to its source.

Where farmरस begins.

Our first farm is being developed at Basudevpur Chaputa in Vaishali, Bihar. It is designed as a practical integrated farming system: productive enough to be commercially meaningful, simple enough to be replicated, and disciplined enough to be measured.

  • Drainage before plantation: crop selection means little if water stands around roots during the monsoon.
  • Soil and water testing before input decisions.
  • Controlled, rotational poultry access rather than unrestricted stocking.

  • Staggered forage planting to extend flowering rather than create one short flush.

We do not present the first farm as a finished formula. It is where we test spacing, crop combinations, forage calendars, poultry rotation, bee health, farm economics and post-harvest handling before taking practices to a wider farmer network.

For us, beekeeping begins with colony health and forage. Citrus, mustard, tulsi, sunflower, moringa, sesame, seasonal vegetables and surrounding orchards can each contribute at different times of the year.

Our poultry approach is based on balance. Birds need shelter, clean water, suitable nutrition, vaccination, health monitoring and protection from weather and predators. When farm conditions allow, they can also access designated outdoor areas through controlled rotation.

Why rotational access?

Unrestricted stocking can damage young plants, expose roots, strip ground cover and increase parasite pressure. Rotational use allows farm sections to rest while helping us manage bird welfare and soil condition more responsibly.

Why farmरस?

The name brings two worlds together.

Farm is where food begins.

रस is an Indian word that can evoke flavour, juice, essence, character and enjoyment.

Together, farmरस represents what we want food to be: connected to its source and full of character.

The idea began in Basudevpur Chaputa, a village in Vaishali, Bihar, while thinking about how limited agricultural land could be used more intelligently. The question quickly became larger than one farm: could horticulture, beekeeping, poultry, seasonal crops, rural enterprise and food value addition be designed as one connected system?

That question became farmरस.

From one farm to a wider network

Our own farm is the beginning, not the boundary. As practices are proven, we intend to work with neighbouring producers who can participate in different ways: fruit cultivation, beekeeping, poultry, nurseries, aggregation, grading, food processing and logistics.

Where is farmरस based?

farmरस began in Basudevpur Chaputa, Vaishali, Bihar. Our first integrated farm is being developed there, with a longer-term plan to work with a wider network of producers.

Is farmरस organic?

We do not use the word "organic" unless the relevant product and production system meet applicable certification or legal requirements. We prefer to explain our actual farming practices clearly.

Is your honey raw or unprocessed?

Product-specific processing claims will appear only after the final extraction, filtration, heating and testing process is defined for each honey range.

Are your chickens free range?

Our model is based on controlled outdoor access and rotational farm areas alongside appropriate shelter, feed, health care and biosecurity. We will use formal "free-range" claims only where the production standard supports them.

Can I visit the farm?

Yes, by prior appointment. Visits are scheduled so normal farm operations, bee activity and poultry biosecurity are protected.

Do you work with other farmers?
